Barack Obama, you're my hero.

His first full day in office and he closes Guantanamo Bay Prison. Something tells me we're into something good.

BTW, if you google Barack Obama, the 3rd most common search is for his birth certificate?? Really?

But there's a problem with that decision too: where should all the prisoners go now? Nobody really wants them back I think...

Given his proclamation of transparency you would think the authentication of his birth place would not be shrouded in mystery.

I agree with your sentiments! He talked in his inaugural address about how the time has come to make the tough decisions--and he's already making them. So many things just aren't black and white, but we still need to wade through the grey if we are ever going to get back out into the sunlight!

Your are so right my friend. It's about time that we have a President that is actually going to take action instead of sitting back and watching the world fall apart. I know this is just a minor thing but It's good to know that he isn't going to be messing around.

Barack Obama is incredibly inspiring. He hit the ground running and isn't afraid to deliver on his promises.

Yes, really, the biggest search is for his birth certificate. See, the one thing that Obama-haters just can't let go of is that somehow he isn't American. They worry it to death like a dumb dog worries a favorite toy.

Those people are to be pitied, and wary of, because they can still vote.

Hurray for Obama and hurray for you, too, Blog of Note!

Yep - there are some die hard conservatives out there who will argue with liberals just to argue (even without real facts - you know, spin parrots). The alleged "birth certificate" is all they have. They need to just accept that we have a Democrat in office for the next 4 years and move on. And I agree - Obama is far better than what we had and if the first day is merely a sampling of what's to come - maybe something will actually change in this country.

As I said to a friend earlier today, this country needs to reclaim the moral highground like we're storming the beaches of Normandy. This is a great way to start!

I have to respectfully disagree. His closure of Qitmo is a bit premature and not well thought out. His suggestion to move those prisoners to Levinworth is laughable. Do we really want the worst of the worst living in the heartland of our nation? I pray for the best out of Obama, but am preparing for the worst.

But, congrats on the blog of note pick!

If I were Barack Obama, I think I would close down Guantanamo Prison right now too.

WAIT A MINUTE

j/k all I know is that it's going to at least be a moral and upright four years, if nothing else. I bet he even walks his dog himself. The presidential pet is going to be so freaking cool.

There's something great in the air. Obama is really an inspiration. I also feel like he's a real person, which is rare for a president. Congratulations on being a blog of note.

Check this wiki out. It looks like it's still in the developing stages, but it looks like a good idea.

Obama is right on point. I think the best is yet to come though. This move is just to show that he is serious and committed to holding onto the values America claims. Wait till things really get going.

grats for getting in Blogs of Note!

I'm totally feeling optimistic, even with all the upcoming choices the review team is going to have to make about what to do with the people in the prison. NPR had great coverage.

Being on google all day, I noticed that too. Silly people trying to find theories and loopholes from the swaring in and from his back ground.

He's president, give it a rest and enjoy the next 4 years!

Congrats to Obama. It was a day never to forget in history BUT we need not forget that he has allot of work to do and so far he is not making good decisions. Maybe the prisoners will end up in Kansas. Maybe

Beautiful baby! Ironically I am waiting very anxiously to find out if I am pregnant (every second is pure torture!) and if not hopefully soon :) I look forward to following! Also, I just want to voice my opinion, for people saying its bad to move Guantanimo (sp?) prisoners because we don't want them in the heart of our country, there are serial killers and rapists out there with as sick if not sicker minds who are already in those prisons, its really not much different...

I just wanted to say that I enjoyed reading your blog. The top reasons you love your mom really hit home for me and brought me to tears. I recently lost my mom to colon cancer and it's been a tough time, I miss her so much! So it's nice to read about how much other people appreciate their moms too. Anyway, keep up the good blog, it really is fun to read. Before you know it your little girl will be throwing a whole new kind of tantrum! lol I have a 2 and almost 4 year old so I know!
