Disappointed in Humanity

Hey there. So, yes, as my title states, I'm disappointed in humanity--not hugely disappointed, just slightly. It's akin to a teacher leaving her classroom for a moment, only to return and find that all hell has broken loose. I'm sure she could've anticipated the outcome, but it's disappointing nonetheless.

Mostly, being a Blog of Note has been really fun. I love hearing from all different people and from all over the world. It seems no matter who, or where, you are there are some universal commonalities when it comes to raising children and having hope in new leadership.

Then, there are the others. The reasons I feel disappointed. My blog was never intended to be a political forum, I just had an overwhelming moment of gratitude for President Obama yesterday and I wanted to express it. I don't care if you disagree, I don't care if you think I'm an "F-ing liberal" as one person put it. Don't read my blog. And, most certainly, if you're here to post a link to your pornographic blog-LEAVE. I'm not sure how anyone can think it's appropriate to come to my family blog and post porn links, I'm sickened by it. But it's also not a place to come and be hateful.

I thought for a few hours this morning on what to do about this. I wanted to go private, but I think it's important for mothers to have a place to go to see that this is everyone's struggle, and parenting is just hard. For everyone. So, in lieu of that, I came up with what I feel is a good compromise. Comments have to be approved before posting. I don't like having to police my blog, so hopefully this will save me from that.

My little nina is working on her 3rd hour of napping, laying beside me with bright, red cheeks. My family is sacred and I will protect it at all costs. It's not that I'm ungrateful, just protective.

To everyone else, thanks for the car advice, the Volvo it is. Thanks for the parenting support, and thanks for having faith that there is hope for our country. You're fabulous.

Sorry to hear that. It's a shame. Great idea to approve comments before posting. It's unfortunate that had to be done.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that! I commend your decision to stick it out, because you are right about us moms getting comfort and knowledge from one another in the blogosphere.

Your little one is precious by the way!

its a good idea... but going trough all the comments takes time... maybe a filtering tool could be a nice solution... and one more thing:blogs are all about expressing, so you should care what some dumb rednecks would tell you,, cause its your opinion written in your blog.

Never give up on humanity, the good it can do will never be eclipsed by the evil, after all this planet has one heck of a reset button and we know it has been pressed on multiple occasions. Just bear in mind that there are extremists on both sides. I have seen hate posts from "liberals" as well as "conservatives", which I lean more toward. You have a beautiful kid there, I think she would be better served by you if you keep positive. Take care.

Unfortunately commenting is sometimes abused. I promise we are trying to make it easier to deal with comment abuse, hang in there.

Congrats on being a Blog of Note though. So many people interested in your blog - you've really touched some people :)

Don't get discouraged. You have the right to say whatever you want & feel and forget anyone who says differently. We are an awesome country because we can speak our minds & have disagreements & learn from each other.

It's a shame that you have had such problems with your comments. i too approve all of my comments before they go public. Thank you for staying public though because I really enjoy reading your posts. keep up the good work!

Whoa, people are crazy. Obviously I found your blog on the blog of note, but I appreciate it when people can discuss their opinions without throwing epithets of anger in the other person's face. I think more people should peacefully publish their thoughts, maybe we'd all be better for it and more willing to work together.

Good for you Sweety!
I am very excited about how we as a nation are coming together with hope. I live in WY and this is a REP state. Everyone here is buying up guns and just totally anoyed like with Obama. I am EXCITED! I know there are going to be things that people don't like but GIVE HIM A CHANCE!

Keep your head up!

Please allow no bitterness to creep into your posts because of a few poorly preserved apples. A smiling new administration is sure to warm the heart of an infant’s mother. Let spoiled fruit rest in its own special barrels and let us smell only fresh nectar from yours.

I feel sometimes that people think they can be disrespectful because this is the internet and nobody will see their faces. *sigh*

Anyway, I'm glad you didn't go private because I'm really looking forward to read you more :)
