La la la la la la la la TJ Max

So, we have one by my house. I knew it was in the league of like Marshalls, and Ross, and maybe Kohls--although I've never been there either. Anyway, I always have this memory of this store in Factoria (across from the movie theater) is it Goldsomething-or-other? A store that is in the same class of those I just listed. You know the one giant store next to Starbucks???? I don't know, but my mom told me of this horror story about a shopping trip she took there once. They didn't have any dressing rooms, you just walked into a big women-only changing room with bunch of mirrors. I've had nightmares about it and avoided all stores in that genre ever since. I can't think of anything worse than a bunch of bargain shoppers in South Bellevue in their old, baggy skivvies trying on marked down discount Amy Byer clothing. Literally, the idea gives me the shivers.

Anyway, I finally womaned up and went. I was on the hunt for nice, albeit inexpensive, throw pillows. In a house with a toddler there's no reason to purchase nice accessories when we all know it'll just end up with cheese or animal cracker mashed into it. What I found was a mecca! I just took Angie there tonight so she could purchase two books from the Twilight series for $6 each!! That's a smokin' deal! They had awesome kid's toys and books, super cute clothes for me, Pierre Cardin (Ry's favorite type of dress shirts) for cheap, and GREAT home accessories. I got two really cool and unique throw pillows that would have cost me 2-3 times as much at Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn. I know you're thinking that I probably got a kickback for this post, but I could only hope for some in-store credit to come my way.

I'm turning into a bargain shopper.
I'm turning into...ugh...my mom.

Here's a cute photo of Maize this morning for you to contemplate...

BTW, just saw District 9 tonight and it was incredible. Probably one of the coolest and most interesting movies I've ever seen! I'd definitely recommend it.

It's Loehman's in Factoria Lana. I think they did away with the open changing room awhile ago, although I do remember Nordstrom Rack used to have one too. That concept probably resulted in too many returns since women wouldn't want to try clothes on before purchasing.

Anyway, there's now a TJ Maxx at Factoria but I only went once...it was just too chaotic for me and not enough sales. I'm proud of you for bargain shopping though Lana, it's a good thing! And with all of your deals, I may have to check it out again. BTW, District 9 is good but not for those that get motion sickness from shaky cameras. I almost threw up twenty minutes into it, reminded me of the Blair Witch movie. I predict a sequel though, huh?

Yay for bargain shopping Lana! I love a deal- I swear I almost never pay full price for anything.

I unfortunately don't have the time to hunt through TJ Maxx or Ross, but one of my friends' finds the BEST deals at Ross (RDL as she calls it, for Ross Dress for Less). I bargain hunt on the internet now or else ask my mom to find things at the Bellevue Goodwill!

SOme of those are scary depending where they are. You can't swear off all those type stores though, because there are deals to be had.
District 9 was good! I am not into sci fi, but I liked it also.

How could I have seen District 9 (the girl that goes to the theater once a year) and Erika has never heard of it? That's a first! Don't go see it without using some of my Entertainment coupons for the theater though...I need to get rid of them!

Even I know what Distric 9 is Erika! I haven't been to the movies in almost a year, and I don't watch commercials on TV ever. Dan was raving about it so that's how I found out about it. Between him and Colleen telling me the story I don't need to suffer through the handheld camera action now since I know everything that happens!

That Amy Byer comment WAS priceless, I was rolling...
I can't believe you've never been to a TJMaxx! My mom and I love it... sometimes I let down my snobbery just enough! :)

Maizey is sooooo cute, as always.

Ever since I read this, I have been itching to go to TJ Max, Marshalls and Kohls... sometimes they have Le Cruset stuff for super duper cheap!

Maize is getting so big..sitting on her little chair like such a big girl. :) I love her!

I second the self-conscious emotion that The Loehman's open dressing room can give a pubescent girl. Around the age of 12 my mother took me there. I suppose she thought it was some sort of rite of passage into womenhood, it was traumatizing to say the least. I have since retained a fear of my mother, or anyone for that matter, opening my dressing room door before I have properly dressed. Aliya and Kelsey can attest to this fear since they often got a laugh out of opening my dressing room door in Nordstroms. Yeah for my English Puritanical Roots!

But TJ Max is no Loehman's and the good deals are no rumor. I began Twilight last night and I'm almost finished. Thank god Lana advised me to buy the first two at once, and all for less than $14! One can barely buy one best seller at Barnes and Noble for that.
So many thanks to my close friend Lan. Twilight rocks as well as TJ Max! BTW I'm watching Rachel Zoe at the moment and I think you should come over to my place in Queen Anne next Monday for what I think is the season finale; that is if school hasn't entirely consumed you by then.
Love you
